After a recent decline in health Arthur (Art) passed away peacefully in his sleep on March 18, 2016 at the age of 85. He lived in San Jose for most of his adult life where he was married to Alice and had three children, Sharon, now deceased (Richard) Sue, (Dietrich) and Jeff (Stacie). Alice passed away in 2005; they were married for 51 years.

Art was born and raised in Mount Vernon, New York, then went to college at the University of Connecticut. He later transferred to San Jose State University and received his BS in Administration of Justice, later achieving his MBA. While in college he was heavily involved in the ROTC program where he met his future wife Alice. After college he joined the Army and was stationed in Munich, Germany. When his service in the Army was completed, he came back to San Jose and worked as a Police Officer for the City of San Jose. While working for the police department he taught Criminal Justice at West Valley College. He retired as a Lieutenant after 30 years. Within 2 weeks he began his new career with Lockheed Martin as Chief of Investigative Services. He was employed by Lockheed for approximately 10 years.

During this time Art was still involved in the Army Reserves, Selective Service, and the Military Officers Association of America. He retired as a Colonel. Art was also involved with the Police Officers Association, Juvenile Justice Committee, Lions Club, and the San Jose Airport Land and Use Committee.

After retiring Art and Alice enjoyed traveling with their friends, cruising to exotic locations around the world.

Art is survived by two of his children, Sue Crase, and Jeff Knopf and his four grandchildren, Dan Crase, Lea Crase, Thomas Knopf, and Sydney Knopf.

Services will be held Thursday, April 7 at 1PM at the Hillside Evangelical Free Church, 545 Hillsdale Ave. San Jose.
