1919 - 2016 Obituary Condolences
June 6, 1919 - March 3, 2016
Arthur Kinnear Erickson died on March 3, 2016 with family by his side at the Palo Alto VA after a short stay due to pneumonia. He is now with his wife, Ruth.
Arthur was born in Pilot, WY on June 6, 1919 to Frank and Katie Erickson. He was raised on a sheep ranch near Kinnear, WY and graduated from high school in Riverton, WY. Art graduated from the University of Wyoming with a degree in civil engineering in 1942. He joined the Navy during World War II and became a pilot. Art retired with a rank of LT JG after the war.
He returned to Wyoming to get a master's in civil engineering in 1952. During that time, he taught at the Colorado School of Mines. Art met Ruth in Denver on a blind date. They were married on April 1st, 1950, in Roswell, NM. They settled in Los Altos, CA when Art went to work for Lockheed, where he worked on various classified satellite programs.
Art coached Little League and Art and Ruth enjoyed ballroom dancing, traveled to various places around the world and visited family in UT, WY, and NM.
Arthur is survived by his four children: Jan, Candace (husband Farrell), Eric, and Paul and two grandchildren. Arthur has been buried in the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. If you wish, please donate to the University of Wyoming Foundation, Chief Washakie Memorial Endowment Fund.
